A: Hey there, have you heard anything interesting lately? B: Not really, what's up? A: Check this out! So, that Tokyo-based company we know, ispace, has been working on a new lunar lander. They want to send it up in 2028! B: Oh, really? What happened last time? A: Well, they tried to land it on the moon back in June, but didn't quite make it. They aimed to be the first private Japanese company to do a successful lunar landing. B: That's too bad. But this new one sounds promising! What does it look like? A: It's about 3.6 meters tall and 3.3 meters wide. They expect it can carry several hundred kilos of stuff, maybe even start a delivery service to the moon! B: That's cool! I wonder how much they spent on this project? A: The Japanese government gave them around 12 billion yen, which is about 81.6 million dollars. They plan to build the spacecraft and attach it to a rocket after testing and improving designs. B: Wow, that's quite a bit! Last year, an American company became the first private firm to put a lander on the moon. Another one managed to do it in March this year. A: Exactly! But did you know ispace is the only company outside of the US with the ability to bring its lunar lander to the moon? B: No way! What's their plan now? A: The CEO, Hakamada Takeshi, said they will make sure to complete this new lunar lander and build Japan's position in business development on the moon. So, it looks like we might see some cool stuff from them soon!
