Organizers of this year's World Expo in Osaka are training people to serve as guides at its venue. The event opens on April 13. About 1,000 guides will be on hand for Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan. It is expected to attract as many as 220,000 visitors per day. Reporters were allowed to cover a training program at the venue in the city's Konohana Ward on Thursday. The session covered how to give directions around the venue and how to communicate with foreigners using translation machines. Participants used wheelchairs to think about how to support people with disabilities. They also used white canes while keeping their eyes closed. One participant said she learned it will be important to ask visitors whether they need help because many of them may be in trouble. She added that she wants to provide great hospitality. An official of the Japan Association for the 2025 World Exposition expressed hope that the guides will make the most of what they learn.
