The operator of the Hokuriku Shinkansen bullet trains says it has suspended some services following powerful earthquakes on Monday afternoon. The firm says about 1,400 passengers are still in trains that have come to a halt. West Japan Railway company says it halted the service between Nagano station and Kanazawa station after the quakes hit Ishikawa Prefecture on the Sea of Japan coast. It says four trains remain stranded. The operator says two of the passengers have complained of fever but their conditions are not serious. The firm says the trains are still powered, the air conditioners are functioning, and employees have delivered food to the passengers by car. The operator says it plans to continue the suspension of services between Nagano station and Kanazawa station until around noon on Tuesday.
