German cameraman injured by Russian cluster munitions in Ukraine NHK

German broadcaster Deutsche Welle says one of its cameramen was injured by shrapnel from a Russian cluster munition in Ukraine.

The broadcaster says a crew came under Russian artillery fire on Saturday while filming at a Ukrainian army training ground in the Donetsk region.

The cameraman was injured and is being treated at a Ukrainian hospital. His condition is stable so far.

One Ukrainian soldier was killed and others were injured in the attack.

The Deutsche Welle correspondent of the team said the Ukrainian army confirmed that they had been fired on with cluster munitions.

The broadcaster's director general, Peter Limbourg, says journalists risk their lives every day to report on the Russian war of aggression and deserve his utmost respect and thanks.

He adds that despite all the safety precautions taken and the distance from the Russian front the work of journalists in the war zone remains dangerous.
