Russia's defense ministry has released footage of Russian and Chinese navy ships conducting joint patrols in the East China Sea.
The ministry said on Friday that Russia's Pacific Fleet destroyers are taking part in the ongoing activities.
It said Russian and Chinese ships practiced replenishing fuel and water, conducted anti-submarine drills, and staged helicopter takeoffs and landings on combat ships.
On July 28, the Russian ministry said the joint patrols began in the Pacific.
Japan's Defense Ministry said on Thursday that six Chinese and five Russian vessels had sailed between Okinawa's main island and Miyakojima Island.
It said the joint passage between the islands was confirmed for the first time.
Russia says this is the third time its navy has conducted patrols with China, following the first one held in 2021 and the second last autumn.
Russia and China are increasing their military cooperation, apparently to counter their common rival, the United States.
