China reacts to US claims of planned cyberattacks by Chinese hackers NHK

China has reacted sharply to US claims about possible Chinese attempts to damage US civilian infrastructure by cyberattacks.

On Thursday, Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin rejected the US claims.

US FBI Director Christopher Wray warned on Wednesday that Chinese hackers are preparing to target US infrastructure to cause significant disruption to US citizens.

Separately, the US Justice Department announced that officials disrupted an effort by a hacking group backed by the Chinese government.

Speaking to reporters, Wang denounced the US authorities for making a fake conclusion and groundless criticism against the country without credible evidence. He accused the US of being extremely irresponsible.

Wang also urged the US to stop defaming another country by using a cybersecurity issue.
