Zelenskyy: Intl. group supporting Ukraine OKs $2 bil. in additional military aid NHK

Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says an international alliance including the United States and European countries has approved an additional military package worth 2 billion dollars to support Ukraine.

Ukrainian media outlets say Zelenskyy made the remark after attending a Ukraine Defense Contact Group meeting in Germany on Thursday to discuss military assistance to Ukraine.

Ukraine's defense minister Rustem Umerov also said in a social media post that the meeting's participants approved roadmaps outlining the key objectives for the Ukrainian military through 2027.

He stressed that support for Kyiv will be sustained.

The latest meeting of the US-led group was the last under the administration of President Joe Biden.

His successor, Donald Trump, has indicated reluctance to provide more aid to Ukraine, and has said he aims to end the war.

Trump told reporters on Thursday that Russian President Vladimir Putin wants to meet him, and that a meeting between them is being set up.
