Security tight in Vladivostok ahead of Putin's arrival for international forum NHK

Security is tight in the Russian Far East city of Vladivostok ahead of President Vladimir Putin's arrival to attend the Eastern Economic Forum.

Many police officers are standing guard in the central part of Vladivostok on Monday.

The Kremlin said Putin will visit the city on Monday and Tuesday.

Russian media say Putin is scheduled on Monday to visit a shipyard in the suburbs of Vladivostok and take part in a meeting with residents of advance development territories.

Russia and North Korea are believed to be making arrangements for a summit between Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in the Far East.

On Saturday, Russia's presidential spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said he had "nothing to say" about a possible visit by Kim.
