US says China may give arms to Russia NHK

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has said he conveyed his concerns to China's top diplomat about Beijing's possible support for the Russian military in the ongoing Ukraine invasion.

Blinken met with Wang Yi on Saturday on the sidelines of the security conference in Munich, Germany. The meeting lasted about an hour.

In an interview with ABC News on Sunday, Blinken said China has offered Russia political and diplomatic support, but Beijing is "considering providing lethal support to Russia in the war against Ukraine."

He added, "It was important for me to share very clearly with Wang Yi that this would be a serious problem."

The US government has indicated that Russia is seeking military assistance from China. Washington is apparently warning that it will take measures should Beijing respond to Moscow's request.
