The Indonesian government has concluded that the use of tear gas was the main cause of a stampede at a soccer match on October 1.
                
Authorities say 132 people have been confirmed dead, and about 600 people were injured.
                
The stadium is located in Malang, East Java province. Police fired tear gas when fans of the losing team stormed the pitch.
                
Coordinating security minister Mahfud MD said in a news conference on Friday that a special task force reported its findings to President Joko Widodo.
                
The team analyzed footage from 32 surveillance cameras at the stadium.
                
Mahfud gave accounts of what was observed. He said a person helping someone who was having trouble breathing was sprayed with tear gas and died.
                
He says another person who went back inside the stadium to help a friend was trampled to death.
                
The minister said the team concluded that the use of tear gas resulted in multiple deaths.
                
The police have said that six people, including three police officers, will face criminal charges for ordering the use of tear gas.
