Multiple South Korean media outlets say K-pop girl group NJZ, formerly known as NewJeans, has announced it will suspend its activities.
The move came after the Seoul Central District Court granted an injunction last week to bar the group from acting independently of the management agency ADOR.
Yonhap news agency and other media reported Monday that the group made the announcement at a Hong Kong music event on the previous day. The group's members reportedly said they decided to suspend all activities to observe the court decision.
The group said in November they were terminating their exclusive contract with ADOR after their producer was ousted as CEO at the agency. Last month, the group renamed itself NJZ and began independent activities. In response, ADOR filed an injunction to bar the group from independent activities under the new name.
Yonhap reported that ADOR said it found regrettable that the group made the declaration unilaterally and expressed its intention to discuss with the members in the near future.
