Services on the Tokaido and Sanyo Shinkansen lines remain disrupted between Tokyo and Hakata on Thursday due to torrential rain the previous day in central Japan's Shizuoka Prefecture. The operators of the two lines say services have resumed but remain partially delayed. The Tokaido line operator says since Wednesday it has canceled more than 185 bullet trains and delayed over 240 trains, affecting about 305,000 passengers. At stations in Tokyo, Nagoya and Shin-Osaka, bullet train cars were offered as rest areas for passengers who missed their connections for local lines. The operators are advising passengers to check their websites for the latest information.
