Kishida promises Zelenskyy about 100 SDF vehicles in additional aid NHK

Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio has promised Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy additional aid, including around 100 vehicles from Japan's Self-Defense Forces.

The two leaders met after the G7 summit wrapped up in Hiroshima City on Sunday.

During their talks, Kishida promised additional aid, based on a request from Ukraine. The aid includes about 100 trucks and other vehicles from Japan's Self-Defense Forces, as well as some 30,000 emergency rations.

Kishida also told Zelenskyy that an SDF hospital will accept wounded Ukrainian soldiers.

The prime minister explained to Zelenskyy that the Japanese government had set up a body to study ways to help Ukraine rebuild itself.

He stressed that Japan's public and private sectors will work together to support Ukraine's recovery.

Zelenskyy thanked Kishida for Japan's strong support and the fresh aid package.
