A court in military-ruled Myanmar has wrapped up a series of trials of the country&#039;s ousted de-facto leader, Aung San Suu Kyi, by sentencing her to a combined 33 years in prison.
                
An informed source says Aung San Suu Kyi was found guilty of five counts of corruption, including leasing a helicopter, in a closed-door court session in the capital Naypyitaw on Friday.
                
The court reportedly gave the Nobel Peace Prize winner a total of seven years. This adds to the prison terms she has already received for multiple supposed offenses.
                
Friday&#039;s ruling concluded all her trials, with 19 guilty verdicts and a combined 33 years of prison time.
                
Last week, the UN Security Council adopted its first resolution calling for the release of all detainees, including Aung San Suu Kyi, held since a coup in February last year.
                
Myanmar&#039;s military is apparently trying to eliminate Aung San Suu Kyi&#039;s political influence before a general election slated for next year by combining her prison terms.
                
Attention is focused now on how the military will respond amid growing calls from the international community for her release.
