Ukraine is increasingly rejecting Russian Orthodox religious and cultural traditions. It has moved Christmas Day forward from January 7 to December 25. On Friday, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a bill formalizing the change. Calls have been growing among the Ukrainian people for a break with the Russian Orthodox Church. Russia's invasion of Ukraine since February last year, and its unilateral annexation of Crimea have prompted some Ukrainians to celebrate Christmas on December 25. Ukraine has also changed Russian or Soviet Union-linked street names, and has removed commemorative monuments.
