North Korea has staged a military parade to mark the 80th anniversary of the founding of the ruling Workers' Party.
Saturday's edition of the party's newspaper Rodong Sinmun reported that the event took place in the capital Pyongyang on Friday night, with the country's leader Kim Jong Un in attendance.
During the event, the North unveiled what it calls the new intercontinental ballistic missile Hwasong-20. The country describes the ICBM as the most powerful nuclear strategic weapon system.
Kim also delivered a speech in which he justified the dispatch of North Korean troops to Russia, as it continues its invasion of Ukraine.
The report cited Kim as saying that the "perfection" of the North Korean military was demonstrated by the "heroic fighting spirit" and the "victory" of its troops on overseas battlefields for "international justice and genuine peace."
The newspaper also said Kim declared that the party and the government will continue to oppose injustice and hegemony, and fulfill their responsibility to protect justice and peace.
Pyongyang demonstrated unity with friendly nations through the event, which was also attended by Chinese Premier Li Qiang and former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev.
Meanwhile, the US and South Korean militaries are conducting detailed analyses of the weapons displayed in the parade.
