Japan's Foreign Minister Iwaya Takeshi has spoken with his counterparts from the Group of 20 economies. He called for a united front to tackle challenges such as climate change and natural disasters.
The G20 foreign ministers held a session on Friday in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Iwaya said Japan will share its disaster-mitigation technologies with the international community to help prepare and respond to earthquakes, typhoons and other natural disasters.
He also emphasized the importance of a free and fair economic order as the foundation for global growth and prosperity.
He called for deeper discussions on reforming the World Trade Organization, apparently with US President Donald Trump's plans to impose high tariffs in mind.
Iwaya also spoke about the Tokyo International Conference on African Development scheduled for August. He said Japan will cooperate with African countries, in line with the G20's work.
