The White House says US President Joe Biden will attend the Group of 20 summit in Indonesia in mid-November. In a statement on Friday, the White House said Biden will be in Bali from November 13 to 16. It is still uncertain whether he will have his first face-to-face talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping there. The Biden administration has characterized China as the only competitor with both the intent and the capability to reshape the international order. But the US seeks to continue dialog with Beijing and hopes for a summit on the sidelines of the G20 meeting. The first leg of Biden's trip will be to Egypt. The statement says he will visit the country on November 11 to attend the United Nations COP27 conference on climate change. It says, "he will build on the significant work of the United States has undertaken," and "will highlight the need for the world to act." Biden will visit Cambodia on November 12 to participate in the annual US-ASEAN summit and the East Asia summit. The White House says that following Biden's trip, Vice President Kamala Harris will travel to Thailand to attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit scheduled on November 18 and 19.
