People in Ukraine have marked Orthodox Easter by praying for an end to Russia's invasion. They were seen attending services on Sunday despite fears of an attack on places of worship. Visitors to Neopalima kupina church in Kyiv brought baskets containing traditional cakes and decorated eggs. They also lit candles. Soldiers and police were deployed to the church amid concerns that crowded places could come under fire. A 63-year-old woman whose eldest son died in the conflict two years ago said she hopes the fighting will end soon, so that soldiers can once again hug their families. A 28-year-old man said Easter is important because it brings people together and raises morale. And in a message to the nation, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy pointed out that "The Bible teaches us to love our neighbor." He also urged people to protect each other. Apparently referring to Russia, Zelenskyy said, "And our former neighbor, who was always making us take him for a brother, remains distant from us for centuries."
