Santa Claus has come all the way from his hometown to visit a nursery school in Iwate Prefecture, northeastern Japan. It&#039;s Santa&#039;s first trip to the prefecture in four years.
                
A department store in Morioka City usually organizes the annual event to cheer up children living in coastal areas that were ravaged by earthquakes and torrential rains. But Santa&#039;s visit had been on hold since 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
                
On Tuesday, Santa Claus made a surprise visit to a nursery school in Miyako City.
                
When children shouted &quot;Santa Claus,&quot; he appeared saying &quot;Merry Christmas.&quot; They all clapped and cheered.
                
The children asked him questions, such as, &quot;What is that book in your hand?&quot; and &quot;How old are you?&quot;
                
Santa replied that it is a magic book that makes everyone&#039;s wishes come true, and that he is 465 years old.
                
The children then danced to a song to express their gratitude for the gifts they received from Santa.
                
A six-year-old said it was the first time he had ever seen Santa Claus.
                
A girl said Santa looked cool.
