A: Hey! Did you hear anything about the budget news?

B: No! What's going on? It sounds serious.

A: It's huge! The government’s planning a budget of about 122 trillion yen!

B: Wow! That’s a *lot* of money, isn’t it? Is that a good thing or a bad thing?

A: It's the biggest ever in yen! It's a bit more than last year’s record too.

B: So, where’s all that money going?

A: Mostly social security, about 39 trillion yen. And they have to pay a lot on government bonds too - over 31 trillion.

B: Oh yeah, I heard interest rates are going up. That makes sense.

A: Exactly! They expect to collect a record amount of tax revenue, around 83 trillion.

B: Okay, so that’s where the money comes from. Still… a big number!

A: Yep! They’re finalizing it all today, I think. Should be decided by Friday.
