Ohtani becomes first MLB player with 50 homers and 50 stolen bases NHK

Ohtani Shohei of the Los Angeles Dodgers has become the first player in MLB history to hit 50 home runs and steal 50 bases in a single season.

Ohtani achieved the feat in a game against the Miami Marlins at the opponent's home stadium on Thursday.

Ohtani belted a two-run homer to right center field in the sixth, and hit another two-run homer to left in the seventh -- marking his 50th of the season.

He added to his total with his 51st homer in the ninth inning, a three-run shot over the fence.

The Japanese sensation got his 50th stolen base in the first inning and added another in the second, bringing his total to 51.
