A new wildfire has rapidly spread in Los Angeles County and nearby areas. A local newspaper says the latest in a recent series of large blazes has prompted evacuation orders or warnings affecting more than 50,000 residents.
                
The Hughes fire ignited in the Castaic area on the county&#039;s northern outskirts on Wednesday. Fire officials say it scorched about 38 square kilometers in 6 hours.
                
But firefighters have largely contained the spread of other wildfires, which broke out in the county&#039;s Pacific Palisades and Altadena areas on January 7. The flames have still not been completely extinguished, however.
                
Local authorities say 28 people have died in the fires and that an investigation is underway to identify what set them off.
                
President Donald Trump has said he will visit the affected areas on Friday.
                
Weather officials are urging people to stay vigilant as strong winds could fuel the blazes through Friday.
