Voters in Germany are casting their ballots in general elections. Attention is focused on how much support the anti-immigrant Alternative for Germany party will garner.

None of the parties are expected to secure an outright majority in the parliamentary elections.
        
                    
                  
It is likely that the largest opposition will gain the most seats and lead negotiations to launch a coalition government. The alliance&#039;s candidate for chancellor, Friedrich Merz, is viewed as a frontrunner for the German chancellorship.
        
                    
                  
Polls will close at 6 p.m. on Sunday and the ballots will be counted immediately.
