Russia's foreign minister has warned Western nations providing long-range weapons to Ukraine that Moscow will take further action if they fail to understand that it has "red lines." Sergey Lavrov spoke with former Fox News host Tucker Carlson. The interview was released on Friday. Lavrov warned against Ukraine's use of the long-range weapons against Russia. He said that if the United States and its allies do not believe that Russia has red lines, that is a "very serious mistake." He referred to the new intermediate-range ballistic missile known as the Oreshnik, which Russia used in a strike on Ukraine in November, and warned that Moscow "would be ready to use any means." He said Russia would send "additional messages" if the Western nations do not draw the "necessary conclusions." Lavrov referred to US President-elect Donald Trump, describing him as a "very strong person" who seeks results and doesn't like to procrastinate. The US is the biggest backer of Ukraine. Lavrov suggested Russia would be open to talks with Washington, saying, "We never severed our contacts, our ties in the economy, trade, security, anything." He said that, as Russian President Vladimir Putin mentioned, the ball is on the US side. Regarding the conditions for peace negotiations with Ukraine, Lavrov reiterated that Moscow would not accept Kyiv joining NATO.
