Parts of Japan have gotten a taste of summer on Thursday. Temperatures rose to 30 degrees Celsius or higher in some places from western Japan to the Tohoku region. The hottest weather so far this year was observed across wide areas. Daytime highs rose to 30 degrees or higher in some places. Temperatures reached 30.9 degrees in Yamaga, Kumamoto prefecture, a record high for April, 30.6 degrees in Hita, Oita prefecture, 30.3 degrees in Wadayama in the city of Asago, Hyogo prefecture, 30.2 degrees in Ueda, Nagano prefecture, and 30.1 degrees in Fukushima City. Elsewhere, temperatures reached 29 degrees in Kyoto City and 26 degrees in central Tokyo, the highest so far this year. Temperatures were similar to those normally experienced between mid-June and late July. On Friday, another hot day is expected mainly on the Pacific coast. A daytime high of 26 degrees is forecast in central Tokyo. Extra caution is advised against heatstroke.
