Prosecutors in the US state of Georgia are seeking a March 4 trial date in the racketeering case against former President Donald Trump and 18 others for alleged election interference. The proposal, filed with the court on Wednesday, would mean starting the trial one day before Super Tuesday, a key date in the US presidential primaries, when many states hold their primaries or caucuses. The request is likely to draw an angry reaction from Trump, who plans to run in the 2024 race. On Monday, a grand jury indicted Trump and the 18 other people, including his former attorney Rudy Giuliani, for allegedly trying to overturn the state's 2020 presidential election result. In their request, the Georgia prosecutors also proposed that arraignments for the defendants take place in the week of September 5. Trump is now facing four indictments. Previously, he has called the charges against him "election interference" and "political persecution." The timing of the trial will be a decision for the judge appointed to oversee the case.
