1. Protesters in Pakistani-controlled Kashmir have been rallying against privileges of politicians, bureaucrats, and officials, demanding an end to subsidies for food and electricity. 2. Clashes between protesters and security forces have resulted in nine deaths (six civilians and three police officers), with over 40 officers injured. 3. In response to the unrest, phone lines and internet access were cut, forcing stores to close. Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has dispatched a delegation to investigate and called for restraint from both sides.
