A renowned Japanese singer and songwriter has performed in front of hundreds of fans in Kuala Lumpur. Kato Tokiko was backed by the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra. The concert on Wednesday night was titled "Love Songs, from Soul to Soul Across the Sea." The program included one of her signature songs, "A Million Roses." She has been singing the lullaby, originally composed in the former Soviet Union, for more than three decades. Kato said, "Even though there is a war in one corner of the world, I would like to pray for peace in Asia. I feel that my way of life involves meeting people across national borders. If there is anything I can do, I would like to continue singing in a variety of countries." Kato also performed a song that has long been popular in Malaysia, singing in Malay and Japanese. The two countries have a long history of cultural exchanges.
