A crane has collapsed in western India, crushing at least 17 people to death. Rescuers are searching for others who could still be trapped. The accident occurred just after midnight on Monday along a highway in the state of Maharashtra, about 50 kilometers from Mumbai. The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital. Several others are missing. State authorities are yet to determine the cause. But they have given the order to launch a detailed probe. Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered his condolences, and promised to provide support.
