An earthquake with an estimated magnitude of 5.1 has struck central Japan. There is no threat of tsunami. The quake occurred at around 8:19 p.m. on Friday, Japan time. The Japan Meteorological Agency says the magnitude 5.0 quake occurred in Nagano Prefecture, and measured an intensity of lower 5 on the Japanese scale of 0 to 7 in the hardest-hit areas. The agency says the focus was in the northern part of Nagano Prefecture, at a depth of 13 kilometers.
