The US Supreme Court will hear arguments on Thursday in former president Donald Trump&#039;s appeal of a lower court&#039;s decision to remove him from the state of Colorado&#039;s primary ballot.
                
The state&#039;s top court ruled in December that Trump had engaged in insurrection by inciting his supporters to attack the US Capitol in 2021.
                
The court said the decision to remove Trump from Colorado&#039;s primary is based on a clause in the US Constitution that bars any person engaged in insurrection or rebellion from holding office.
                
Trump then asked the US Supreme Court to overturn the ruling.
                
The former president&#039;s camp has denied his involvement in the Capitol attack. It says the so-called insurgency clause does not apply to US presidents.
                
US media say Trump is not expected to be present at the arguments on Thursday.
                
The New York Times says similar cases over his candidacy have been filed in at least 35 states. The US Supreme Court ruling could affect whether Trump can run in primaries in those states.
