Tokyo Electric Power Company has resumed releasing treated and diluted water from the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant. This comes after it suspended the work, due to an earthquake. The plant operator started discharging the treated and diluted water again at 3:49 p.m. on Friday. It had suspended the operation for about 15 hours. TEPCO says no irregularities were found in the plant's equipment. The company stopped releasing the water at 0:33 a.m., about 20 minutes after the quake. The suspension was in accordance with a plan that had been previously drawn up. The plan calls for the discharge of water to cease when an earthquake registering lower 5 or stronger on the Japanese seismic scale hits municipalities hosting the Fukushima Daiichi and Daini plants. Friday's quake registered lower 5 in Naraha Town. The Fukushima Daini plant is located there.
