New Thai PM pledges to dissolve parliament within 4 months NHK

Thailand's new prime minister Anutin Charnvirakul has pledged to dissolve parliament within four months.



Anutin formally took office after he received a royal endorsement on Sunday. He was elected as prime minister after his predecessor Paetongtarn Shinawatra was removed by the country's Constitutional Court.



Anutin held a news conference on Sunday and said, "I will dissolve parliament within the four-month timeframe that was agreed upon to return power to the people so they can decide the future of the country."



As leader of the conservative Bhumjaithai Party, Anutin gained support from the pro-democracy People's Party on condition of the dissolution.
