Zelenskyy slams Russia for attaching conditions to Black Sea agreements NHK

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has condemned Russia for attaching conditions to US-involved deals for safe navigation in the Black Sea.

The White House said on Tuesday it had reached agreements with Russia and Ukraine to ensure safe navigation and eliminate the use of force in the Black Sea. But the Kremlin said Russia's agreements with the US will only come into force after the West lifts some of the sanctions on Russia.

Zelenskyy released a video message the same day. He criticized Russia, saying, "They are already trying to distort the agreements."

Also on Tuesday, reporters asked Zelenskyy if the next rounds of US-Ukraine talks have been scheduled. He answered, "We agreed that they will take place. Soon."

The Ukrainian president also said Washington had proposed to Ukraine a new version of a deal that would give the US access to Ukraine's mineral resources. The two sides have yet to reach a final agreement on the issue. Zelenskyy called the new version "a large, complete agreement."

Observers say Zelenskyy has stressed his willingness to go along with US President Donald Trump's administration, while denouncing Russia's behavior.
