Torrential rains are battering Pakistan and Afghanistan. More than 100 people are dead, and many more are in desperate need of aid. Flooding in some areas is catastrophic. Storms hit Pakistan's southwestern province of Balochistan, where lightning and collapsed buildings have killed at least eight people. Local authorities have declared a state of emergency. One resident said: "My village has no supplies, no medicine. We can't even get to the nearest hospital because the road has vanished. We can only help ourselves on foot." Authorities say more than 60 people are dead nationwide. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has issued an order to provide emergency relief. In Afghanistan, officials with the Taliban say about 70 people are dead. They say more than 2,000 buildings have been damaged.
