Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says the war with Russia is "closer to the end," appealing the United States and allies for more support.
Zelenskyy made the remarks in an interview with US television channel ABC on Monday. He is visiting the US to attend the UN General Assembly and to meet with President Joe Biden.
The Ukrainian leader said he will present what he calls his "Victory Plan" to Biden, as well as to presidential candidates Kamala Harris and Donald Trump.
Zelenskyy said the plan is a bridge to a diplomatic way to stop the war. He added that the bridge is a strengthening of Ukraine, Ukrainian army and people. He said that only in a strong position, Ukraine can push Russian President Vladimir Putin to stop the war diplomatically.
Zelenskyy also said: "I think that we are closer to the peace than we think. We are closer to the end of the war. We just have to be very strong."
He referred to Ukraine's cross-border attacks since August in the western Russia region of Kursk. He said Putin is very much afraid, because the Russian people saw that Putin can't defend all his territory.
