Rescue effort are continuing nearly 10 days after the devastating earthquakes in Turkey and Syria. The death toll has surpassed 41,000, but workers still hope to pull survivors from the debris.
                
A 42-year-old woman was rescued from rubble in the Turkish city of Kahramanmaras on Wednesday. Rescuers there found several more survivors on the same day.
                
The disaster has left hundreds of thousands homeless in freezing winter temperatures.
                
UNICEF says over 7 million children have been affected.
                
UNICEF spokesperson James Elder said, &quot;In Turkey, the total number of children who are living in those 10 provinces hit by the earthquakes is 4.6 million. In Syria, 2.5 million children are affected.&quot;
                
Relief supplies from abroad have been arriving in the region. Japan sent goods including blankets and tents at the request of the Syrian government.
                
Turkish authorities surveyed some 380,000 damaged buildings. They say over 50,000 are at risk of collapsing and must be demolished immediately.
                
Japanese government scientists say the earthquakes caused crustal movements stretching about 400 kilometers.
