US tech giant Microsoft says it will invest 1.7 billion dollars into Indonesia to boost its AI and cloud infrastructure. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella visited Indonesia to announce the 4-year investment, its biggest ever into the country. Nadella met with President Joko Widodo to discuss the plans. The company says the investment will help Indonesia achieve its goal of becoming a global economic powerhouse by 2045. The Indonesian government says Joko asked Microsoft to build a research and development center in the country. Candidate sites include Nusantara in East Kalimantan, where the Indonesian capital is to be relocated from Jakarta beginning in August. Indonesia was Nadella's first stop on his tour of Southeast Asia. The CEO says Microsoft will provide AI training opportunities to 2.5 million people across the ASEAN region by 2025.
