Five killed in bus-truck collision in Hokkaido, northern Japan NHK

Five people have been confirmed dead after an inter-city bus collided with a truck on a national highway in Yakumo Town in Japan's northern prefecture of Hokkaido.

Police say at least five other people have been injured. The victims were taken to hospitals in the town and Hakodate City by ambulances and a helicopter.

The bus was heading to Hakodate from Sapporo City. Police believe there were 16 people on board, including the driver. The truck was transporting pigs.
