The US Congress has passed spending legislation that will avert a federal government shutdown. The stopgap bill passed the House of Representatives on Friday and the Senate early Saturday morning with majority support. The bill that includes more than 100 billion dollars in aid for disaster-stricken areas is expected to be signed by President Joe Biden into law. A pay raise for lawmakers had been removed from the bill after an objection from Elon Musk. President-elect Donald Trump earlier announced Musk will lead a new organization along with another entrepreneur to review public spending and cut waste.
