A: Hey, did you hear about the car sales news?

B: No way! What’s going on?

A: Apparently, most Japanese car companies didn’t do so well last year. Five out of seven saw sales go down.

B: Really? That's surprising! Why?

A: Well, some people think it’s because of those US tariffs, you know, extra taxes on imports. And it's also getting super competitive with Chinese carmakers.

A: But Toyota? They actually did amazing! They sold over 10 million cars – a record high!

B: Wow, Toyota is always strong.  What about Honda or Nissan?

A: Honda’s sales dropped quite a bit, around 7.5%. Nissan was down too.  Mazda, Subaru, and Mitsubishi all saw declines too.

B: So, it sounds like it was a tough year for a lot of them.  Suzuki was the only other one that did well, right?

A: Yep! Suzuki’s doing great, especially in India. They saw a little increase.

B: Huh. Interesting times for the car industry, huh?
