South Korea&#039;s largest opposition party plans to submit another bill aimed at impeaching President Yoon Suk-yeol over his declaration of martial law. The Democratic Party intends to present the bill to the National Assembly on Wednesday, and it wants to hold the vote on Saturday.
                
The first impeachment motion failed last Saturday after most of the members of the ruling People Power Party boycotted the vote.
                
The support of at least two-thirds of the National Assembly is needed for the motion to pass. That means at least eight lawmakers from the ruling party must give their approval.
                
The opposition camp is urging PPP members to vote in favor of impeachment.
                
Some ruling party lawmakers have expressed their intention to vote this time. Members of the public have been calling for the impeachment of the president. They have also criticized the lawmakers who did not participate in the vote.

Meanwhile, South Korean media outlets said prosecutors arrested former Defense Minister Kim Yong-hyun on Tuesday. The prosecutors allege that he advised the president to declare martial law.
                
On Wednesday, police detained the national police chief and Seoul&#039;s top police officer on suspicion of having engaged in an insurrection.
