Leaders at the ongoing summit of the Group of 20 economies in Bali, Indonesia, are busy rescheduling meetings after the deadly explosion of a Russian-made missile in Poland. The G20 leaders, including US President Joe Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping, were supposed to attend the final session of the two-day summit on Wednesday. The leaders were also scheduled to hold bilateral meetings separately. But those plans have changed following the news that a missile landed in Poland on Tuesday, local time, leaving two people dead. The leaders of the Group of Seven countries and NATO, which includes Poland as a member, held an emergency meeting on Wednesday. Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio and his British counterpart, Rishi Sunak, called off their bilateral meeting scheduled for Wednesday. A mangrove planting session attended by the G20 leaders had to be delayed. The G20 summit is aiming to adopt the leaders' declaration before closing. A draft of the declaration obtained by NHK contains a phrase that says this era should not be of war. But the missile incident in Poland may affect discussions on the final wording of the declaration.
