The Shangri-La Dialogue, which draws defense officials, diplomats and security analysts from around the world, is set to kick off in Singapore from Friday.
                
More than 600 delegates from around 50 countries are gathering to discuss a wide range of issues.
                
But tensions between the US and China are expected to overshadow the three-day annual meeting, as Beijing is refusing to resume defense dialogue with Washington.
                
US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin and his Chinese counterpart Li Shangfu are scheduled to give speeches.
                
But Beijing has declined a bilateral meeting between the two ministers. It accuses Washington of creating obstacles that seriously undermine mutual trust.
                
Also high on the agenda are North Korea&#039;s missile and nuclear programs, and tensions in the Taiwan Strait and South China Sea.
                
Participants will also likely discuss Russia&#039;s invasion of Ukraine, whose defense minister is scheduled to appear at the meeting.
