About 50 people wearing kimono and suits took part in the rite of passage at the 300-meter-tall Abeno Harukas skyscraper.
                
In 2022, the country&#039;s legal age of adulthood was lowered from 20 to 18, but many people still mark the milestone when they turn 20.
                
Participants wrote slogans of resolve on white sashes, pledging to &quot;grow up in body and soul&quot; and &quot;never forget to be grateful&quot;.
                
Putting on their sashes, the young climbers ascended the 1,637 steps from the basement to an observation deck on the 60th floor.
                
After completing the climb in about an hour, they moved to the rooftop heliport and took photos.
                
A university student said he wants to be a person who can set his own goals and then achieve them.
                
Another student said it was a good experience to walk up to the observation deck, adding that she will always try to be considerate to others.
