Transport ministers from the Group of Seven nations have started the central part of their talks in the Japanese city of Shima, Mie Prefecture.
                
The second day of the three-day gathering began shortly before noon on Saturday. It is one of the ministerial meetings being held across Japan stemming from the G7 summit in Hiroshima in May.
                
The transport ministers will discuss working together to improve transportation accessibility, while sharing the initiatives their countries are using to tackle the problem.
                
They will also discuss the challenges and solutions to securing the means to transport people and goods in areas with declining populations.
                
Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Oleksandr Kubrakov, who also serves as infrastructure development minister, will join the G7 ministers in person later in the day.
                
The ministers are expected to pledge their joint support for Ukraine to rebuild its transport infrastructure.
                
They will also discuss setting up a working group to strengthen supply chains in response to the disruptions caused by Russia&#039;s invasion of Ukraine.
                
Another item on the agenda is transport system decarbonization.
                
The outcome of their meeting is scheduled to be issued as a joint statement on Sunday.
