A Kremlin spokesperson has revealed that Russian President Vladimir Putin met Yevgeny Prigozhin, the leader of the Wagner Group mercenary force, just days after the group&#039;s mutiny.
                
Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Monday that the two met at the Kremlin on June 29.
                
Peskov said Putin had invited 35 people to the meeting, including Prigozhin and Wagner unit commanders, and that the meeting lasted for nearly three hours.
                
Peskov also said Putin gave his assessment of Wagner&#039;s actions at the front in the &quot;Special Military Operation&quot; in Ukraine, as well as the events of June 24, the day of the mutiny.
                
The spokesperson said that Putin listened to the commanders&#039; own explanations of what happened and offered them options for employment and combat.
                
Peskov said the commanders emphasized that they are staunch supporters and soldiers of President Putin, adding that they also said they are ready to continue fighting for the motherland.
                
This is the first time since the short-lived rebellion that a meeting between Putin and Prigozhin has been made public.
                
Observers say Putin may be trying to demonstrate that the mutiny has been brought under control and the nation has been stabilized. Attention will now be focused on how Putin treats the mercenary-force leader.
