TSMC logs record revenue, profit for 2024 NHK

Taiwanese tech giant TSMC has reported record high revenue and profit for 2024. The world's largest semiconductor foundry operator credits growth in demand for cutting-edge chips for AI.

The report shows revenue jumped by 33.9 percent year-on-year to 2.89 trillion New Taiwan dollars. That's 90 billion US dollars.

Net profit soared by 39.9 percent to 1.17 trillion New Taiwan dollars, or 36.5 billion dollars.

TSMC Chief Executive C.C. Wei says he expects another year of strong AI-driven growth in 2025. He says proposed US export controls on AI chips will be a manageable issue.
