Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio is expected to announce his intention to reshuffle his Cabinet and executives of his main ruling Liberal Democratic Party. Kishida will likely make the announcement at a news conference in India on Sunday when he wraps up a tour of Indonesia and India. The reshuffle is expected to happen on Wednesday after Kishida returns to Japan on Monday. Kishida plans to meet LDP Vice President Aso Taro and LDP Secretary General Motegi Toshimitsu, both of who he is considering retaining. Kishida also plans to meet senior members of the ruling parties, including the head of the LDP's junior coalition partner Komeito, Yamaguchi Natsuo. Komeito is seeking to retain the post of land, infrastructure, transport and tourism minister. Among focuses of the reshuffle are whether Kishida will retain Chief Cabinet Secretary Matsuno Hirokazu and LDP Policy Research Council Chairperson Hagiuda Koichi and how extensive the reshuffle will be. Attention is also focused on whether Kishida will appoint more women to Cabinet ministerial posts in line with the government policy to promote women to play a more active role. Currently, only two of the 19 Cabinet ministers are women.
